Indigenous Sports Academy (4/SO) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep
Indigenous Sports Academy and Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squads both came into the weekend keen on improving their records to date, and with the two teams among the bottom five in the U17 Prep division. ISA had lost seven of their last eight heading in, but down the stretch, ISA led 3-1 thanks to two points apiece from Seth Baptiste (1G, 1A) and Ason Apesis (1G, 1A). It was clear in the way the third period unfolded that CDA were also incredibly keen on coming from behind to get a result. They’d outshoot ISA 14-5 in the third period, and after Chase Water scored to pull the game back within one, CDA would earn a powerplay late in the third. Camden Masterson popped up with his first goal in five games to force overtime. Overtime solved nothing, and come the shootout, nothing separated the two teams through ten shots. Seth Baptiste followed up on his pair of points during the game with a goal for ISA, and on shot twelve, Grayson Girling denied Masterson’s chance at another equalizer, helping ISA to the 4-3 shootout win.
STAR Hockey Academy (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (9) U17
Prairie Hockey Academy’s U17 squad have looked dominant so far this season, sitting atop the MYHockey Rankings heading into this weekend. STAR Hockey Academy have seen a mixed bag of results out of their 15 games so far this year, but two wins in their last four games indicated an upward trend. Prairie dominated PCHA in a 7-0 win last night and wouldn’t remove their foot from the proverbial gas throughout Saturday’s game. After leading 2-1 through one, Prairie exploded for three goals in 27 seconds early in the second period and wouldn’t look back from there. Three points apiece from Eric Helland (2G, 1A), Reid Kawaguchi (1G, 2A), Ivey Vermuelen (1G, 2A), Soren Hayden (1G, 2A), and Kayin Belton (1G, 2A) led PHA’s way to a 9-4 win.
Prairie Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep
Okanagan Hockey Academy had only lost one in regulation through their previous eight games this season, but the underdog Prairie Hockey Academy took the game to OHA from the outset. Prairie outshot their opponents in each of the three periods. Prairie scored first, OHA equalized, but following that, Zander Watson scored 39 seconds after the 1-1 goal to give Prairie a 2-1 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Kaidyn Thomas ensured Prairie’s lead was protected, making 26 saves on 27 shots.
North Shore Warriors (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) U17
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s Saturday morning game against the North Shore Warriors in the U17 division followed a theme; if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. RHA Winnipeg outshot North Shore in each period, peppering the North Shore goal for 34 shots in all. Despite their control, North Shore’s powerplay marker was the only goal on the board for nearly the whole first half of the hockey game. Eventually, though, the RHAW pressure eventually broke down the door. Ebenezer Shaganya and Brady Piec (1G, 1A) scored 56 seconds apart in the second period to turn the game around in their team’s favour, and now up a goal, RHAW were able to put things into cruise control. DJ Mecas (21/22) was the less busy of the two goaltenders, but he still had to stand tall to earn RHAW the win
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep
At the halfway point of Northern Alberta Xtreme and Delta Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep game, it looked dead even. Both teams had scored twice apiece and had their fair share of opportunities with little to separate them. Unfortunately for NAX, DHA would get a spark of momentum after a pair of penalties from Northern Alberta just past the halfway mark of the second. Starting with one on the powerplay, Delta went on a run, scoring three consecutive goals to pull away from NAX. Nicolas Peach scored twice, and Brady Oatman notched three assists to lead Delta to the 5-3 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs Notre Dame Hounds (2) U17
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s U17 team had the game against the Notre Dame Hounds in their hands, but let it slip, to set up a dramatic end to the third period. Through two periods, RHAK led 2-0, and could have had more of a lead after failing to capitalize on multiple grade A chances on a pair of failed powerplay opportunities. Notre Dame took advantage come the third period, scoring twice in five minutes to send the game down the stretch tied 2-2. After allowing two, Alex Youngson (33/35) stood tall in the RHAK crease for the rest of the third period. Despite having their lead snatched away, RHAK were able to bounce back, with Jamal Abougoush striking to put his team back up by one. Youngson shut the door from there and RHAK survived the third period scare to win 3-2.
Notre Dame Hounds (5) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (0) U17 Prep
The Wenatchee Wild and Notre Dame Hounds both came into their game struggling for positive outcomes so far. That motivation proved significantly more effective for the Hounds than for the Wild. Wenatchee’s efforts dwindled as the game went on, eventually being outshot 22-8 in the third period. Notre Dame, conversely, didn’t take a shift off. They hit the Wenatchee net with 53 shots in all, scoring five, and conceding none thanks to Caden Smith’s 31-save shutout.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (3/OT) U17
Okanagan Hockey Academy and Okanagan Hockey Academy Edmonton in the U17 division only face one another this once in the entirety of their respective seasons. As far as one-offs go, Saturday’s clash between the two teams filled whatever desire for drama a viewer would have. OHA led first. OHAE scored a pair. OHA tied it back up. The back-and-forth affair was sufficiently backstopped by OHA’s Holden Tamm (27/30) and OHAE’s Maxime Poitras (34/36), who both made important saves when called upon. Eventually, a rush for OHA Edmonton in overtime made the difference. Liam McMillan had his shot stopped, but heading to the net was Tucker Porter, able to slot home the game-winner for the second consecutive game for OHA Edmonton to prevail 3-2.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (10) U15
A pair of massive Delta Hockey Academy Black performances might not have been the difference between a win and a loss in their Saturday afternoon clash with Pacific Coast Hockey Academy, but they were incredibly impressive to watch. Minseo Song’s (2G, 3A) five points were bested by Zach Giles’ (3G, 3A) six, including a hat-trick. In 12 games this year, DHAB have lost only twice, continuing their dominance with a 10-1 win over PCHA.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep
The South Alberta Hockey Academy had won three straight games previous to Saturdays against Yale Hockey Academy, all against formidable opponents, and looked to continue that through the U17 Prep showcase. Their first game, a win against Shawnigan Lake, predated their matchup with Yale. SAHA were rolling, and their chances showed as much, but at every turn, YHA goaltender Coby Kidwell (28/29) stood tall. Goals from Eddie Kemp and Nicholas Voinea had Yale up by two through two, and while SAHA would finally find a way through, they’d beat Kidwell just once. An empty netter for Yale stretched the lead to 3-1 late.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) U17
Generally, the less of a contest a game is, the less there is to write about. The Northern Alberta Xtreme bested Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy in thumping fashion, holding their opponents to a piddling ten shots through two periods, and their 7-0 lead at that point allowed them to ostensibly put things on cruise control throughout the final twenty minutes. NAX eventually potted nine in the win.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (3) vs STAR Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep
In each of the three periods between Calgary International Hockey Academy and STAR Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squads, CIHA outplayed and outshot STAR. STAR HA stayed in the fight throughout the game, with goaltender Griffin Fair (32/35) showing up with a strong performance throughout. Eventually, though CIHA were too much, and a pair of third period goals from Charlie Sarich and Tomas Figura propelled Calgary IHA to the 3-1 win.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep
What was looking like an uneven battle between teams with very different records turned out to be a close one. OHA coming into this game on a two-game losing streak looked to turn it around with a good start and did as Makenna Brassard (1G) scored the go-ahead goal seven minutes into this one. But that’s the only shot that got through Ella Dunham-Fox (29/30) who played a solid game shutting out OHA for two and half periods So the red-hot Delta Hockey Academy Green score three unanswered to come out on top for a second straight night against OHA.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (2) vs Fort Erie International Academy (1) East U17 Prep
These two teams meet for a second time in as many days as OHO visits Fort Erie International Academy. The first period of this one was quiet in goals but both teams combined for seven penalties. This trend continued throughout the game as OHO had a total of ten powerplay opportunities but could not bury one. That didn’t haut them too much as they come out on top even if they lose the special teams battle by allowing one goal on the penalty kill. They were able to bounce back and score the tying goal and the go-ahead one only two minutes apart in the third.
BWC Academy (5) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U18 Prep
BWC Academy keep rolling as they earn their 11th win of the season on the road. They win a mean battle between opponents who had previously met once. Teams went to the penalty box six different times each and BWC got the better of it as they score once on the man advantage and once a man down. Marker Lee (2G) scores two nice goals to contribute in his team’s win.
St. George’s School (12) vs STAR Hockey Academy (2) U15
Two teams that have eight losses on the season play in Seattle, Washington. St. George’s imposes their will in this one to keep STAR Hockey Academy’s winless season going. They score twelve as Alan Qiu (4G, 1A) and Asher Jin (3G) score seven of those. Both of them record a hat trick on the road as Marcus Nuyen (4A) and Asher Rogachevsky (1G, 4A) each set their teammates up on four different occasions. Even though they scored twelve, they allow 37 shots but a strong performance by David Itin (35/37) kept STAR far in the game.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (1) Female U18 Prep
Complete domination by RINK Kelowna as they outscore Delta Black 6-1 and outshoot them 76-12. Hayley McDonald (1G, 3A) was the most productive player logging four points. Kilah Hodder (1G, 1A) and Kennedy Sissons (2G) were the only other players who recorded multiple points in this lopsided matchup. Even in the defeat we have to mention Saysha Brace (70/76) who was in the game for the whole 60 minutes and faced all 76 shots only allowing 6 goals that’s good for a 0.921 save percentage.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep
The hot team came out on top in this U17 Prep matchup, in fact PCHA extends their win streak to five games. This one was close for 40 minutes, but Pacific Coast Hockey Academy popped off in the third for five straight goals. Lead by AJ Boyd (3G) who kickstarted his team’s hot period with back-to-back powerplay goals to open the period in completed his hat trick with the last goal of the game. Owen Hyde (1G, 2A) stays the team leading pointer scoring his 12th goal and 23rd point of the season.
Shawnigan Lake School (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) U17 Prep
Shawnigan wins and can thank their goalie for this masterpiece. Matthew Palmer (49/50) earns the victory stopping 49 shots and only allowing one goal against a desperate Shawnigan Lake School. Matthw Steele beat him early in the opening frame, but from that point on Palmer was perfect. He got help from Jack Leslie (2G) who scored the go-ahead and the insurance goal early in the third after these teams played an even 40 minutes of hockey.
Kuper Academy (6) vs Selwyn House School (1) East U17 Prep
The undefeated in regular time Kuper Academy came into this one looking for their league leading 10th win of the season and got it. They came into this game pretty slow allowing the first goal 4 minutes in and finishing the period down one. But that’s when they started firing on all cylinders, they would score the next six goals ad never look back. Thomas Issa (1G) scored his league leading 16th goal of the season and his captain, Luca De Pastena (1G, 1A), was able to put his name on the scoresheet for the 11th time in row, he has yet to have a pointless game this season.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (8) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (0) U18 Prep
Wenatchee can’t seem to find their footing this season as they lose a 13th straight. They lose a second one to Coeur d’Alene but thus one wasn’t close. Hudson Podollan (2G, 2A) and Ewen Willers (1G, 3A) with big performances as they record 4-point nights getting some help from Carson White-Sibley (2A) and Matej Bydzovsky (2A) who let their passing talent shine in this one.
Fort Erie International Academy vs King Heights Academy East U18 Prep
Snoozefest in the first period of this one before FEIA took over and won the third matchup of this season series between the teams. Both teams coming off crushing defeats in their last game tried turning the script around. But only Fort Erie was able to do so. They score eight goals on 69 shots. Riley Cave (2G, 1A) and Pascal Bezares (1G, 2A) both found three different occasions to leave their mark on this game. Tuff outing for King Heights Academy as they put up only 12 shots with 11 dressed skaters against FEIA’s 16.
Delta Hockey Academy White (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) U15
Flawless 40 minutes by Delta. In the first two periods they score five times, twice on the man advantage, don’t allow any goals and didn’t take any penalties that was enough to set them up for a second win this season against OHA. Defensemen Seven Xie (1G, 2A) was a force to be wrecking with out there, he sets up both plays on the power play and then adds a goal of his own to put a bow on a great night for him. Jaiven Chatha (2A) was also involved in both power play goals for his team. Delta’s perfect game was ruined six minutes into the third as Tappei Noguchi scored his second goal of the season.
OHA Edmonton (9) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep
Top team against bottom team in the standings went as most would think. OHA Edmonton hands Pilot Mound Hockey Academy their 12th loss of the season by earning their own 13th win. Shots ended 60-15 and the scoreboard reflected. Riley Cooper (3G, 1A) stays hot scoring in her 7th game in a row, but she was not the team’s top earner tonight. Ryann Chimera (2G, 3A) was involved in more than half of her team’s goals contributing to her 26-point season total. Avery Sam (3A) felt generous today dishing the puck around to help her teammates score three goals. In the defeat, Elise Arnason (1G) opens her season scoring total netting her first goal of season.
Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs Edge School (7) U17
Heavyweight tilt on a Saturday night in Devon, Alberta for the U17 showcase. Big time players score in big time game and that’s what Kylar Alves (3G) and Kyden Bartole (1G) do. Alves, the leader in points on his team scores a hat trick, all very important goals. The first was the lone goal scored in the opening 20 minutes, then his second became the game winner and his last came in the third when Delta started a little comeback of their own but Alves shut them down with the insurance goal with seven minutes left in the game. Second to him in points on the team is Bartole who added to his goal total by netting his seventh of this campaign. With the help of their big time players Edge was able to beat a very strong Delta Hockey Academy team.
Edge School (3) vs St. George’s School (2) U17 Prep
St. George’s came a minute away from upsetting Edge School, but the best teams find ways to win late in games and that’s what Edge did tonight. It was a tight game throughout the 60 minutes. After the first the game was tied 0-0. St. George’s top pointer Bradey Ching (1G) broke the tie five minutes into the second, but that was answered by Luke McGuire (1G) five minutes later to head to the dressing room tied again after 40 minutes. St. George’s Liam McLean (1G) broke the tie again giving his team the lead early in the third. They played the rest of the period with the lead until Ryder Johnsen (1G) brought everyone back to square one when he scored as his team had pulled the goalie in favour of an extra skater. Everyone though this game was heading to overtime, but Tyler Carpenter (1G) had other plans, as he scores a heartbreaking goal with 4 seconds left in regulation to give his team the win.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U17 Prep
North Shore watches their lead melt in the third as they cannot secure their first win of the season. No goals were scored in the first period even though there were six power play opportunities. Then in the second North Shore jumped to a 2-0 lead both goals coming off the blade of James Koch (2G) and one of them on the man advantage. Everything looked great for North Shore to finally get their first win as the headed to the third with a two-goal lead. But, as the saying goes, “a two-goal lead is the worst lead in hockey” RHA Winnipeg came out firing and scored their first of the game just a minute into the period. Then with 9 minutes left Cole Ewonchuk (1G, 1A) would tie the game, followed by Colton Ross (1G) 10 seconds later who would give the lead to RHA Winnipeg. And just like that within 10 seconds North Shore had the lead and were down. They couldn’t come back and are still looking for their opening victory of the 2025-2026 campaign.
Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (1) vs North Shore Warriors (4) Female U18 Prep
Elise Miller would bang home North Shore’s first of the contest just under three minutes into play. However, a powerplay marker soon after from Haraya Mitchell would make things even once again. North Shore would have a strong finish to end the first frame as Alexa Roberts and Madison Seitz (1G, 1A) would restore, then double the Warriors lead. A quiet second would follow, but OHA Black goaltender Martha Sinagowitz (51/55) would stand on her head for 21 saves in the middle frame. OHA Black couldn’t find an answer in the third as Emma Ward (38/39) continues her dominant stretch with a 38 save effort. Peyton Mages would add some extra insurance late in the third.
OHA Edmonton (3) vs BWC Academy (4) U17 Prep
Jacob Napoleon would strike early for BWC Academy, gifting them the early lead in Saturday’s final game. Halfway through the first, Gabriel Kantor’s shot from the slot would trickle through to even things up before the ice clean. OHA Edmonton would continue to press in the second, scoring the lone goal of the period coming off the blade of Talyn Kopansky . Jaxon Moss (1G, 1A) would add to this lead early in the third, giving OHA Edmonton a 3-1 advantage. However, BWC Academy did not lose hope for a second. Jaden Brackett would score on the powerplay soon after, cutting their deficit to one. After a couple minutes passed, Wilton Vo would come up clutch with a dazzling goal to tie this up, his first of the season! Overtime would be needed and after a key save from Liam Kellett (28/31), Ryan Fox and Connor Liu would come down on a 2-on-1. Liu would holster the puck from the left circle before labelling one far corner, ending this one and completing the comeback for BWC Academy.
